Texture Pack Summary
The Infection Texture Pack by Teplight aims to turn Minecraft Bedrock into a dark and infected world, but the results are very mixed. The world feels gloomy with purple tones and rough textures that try to show an outbreak taking over the land. Some mobs look creepy in a fun way, like the cows with rib cages and the strange pigs with missing eyes. A few blocks and items also match the theme and help create a dirty and broken atmosphere. The idea is strong and the theme is clear, which helps the pack feel different from normal Minecraft.
However, the pack has many problems that hold it back. Some textures look unfinished and others are simply copied across many blocks with very little change. Many mobs look strange in ways that do not seem planned, and some things are not updated for newer versions of Minecraft, the copper age for instance is not retextured. A few models do not match their own textures and even glitch or float, like the tail on the Elder Guardian. The lack of custom menus and the missing support for Vibrant Visuals make it feel old (althought, not EVERY pack needs to be Vibrant Visuals, so it isn't factored in the score). The pack has moments of good ideas, but overall it feels unpolished and rushed.
Pros
- Strong horror theme - The darker colours and infected style make the world feel creepy in a fun and unique way.
- Good mob designs in some cases - Mobs like cows, pigs and villagers show clear signs of infection and fit the theme well.
- Nice underwater colour work - Oceans have deep tones and some sea creatures look very creative.
- Works well with gloomy builds - The rough and dirty textures can suit spooky or ruined style builds.
- Low price point - The lower cost helps balance some of the issues and makes it a more forgiving purchase.
Cons
- Large amount of copied textures - Many blocks share the same patterns with only small colour changes.
- Missing or broken updates - Several blocks and mobs are not updated for recent versions and some textures do not work correctly.
- Weak GUI and menu design - There are no custom menus or interface changes which makes the pack feel unfinished.
- Inconsistent mob quality - Some mobs look great while others look wrong or even unchanged from vanilla.
- Unclear theme in places - The infection idea is strong in parts but feels lost or replaced with simple horror in others.
