Texture Pack Summary
I reviewed the Smoothic Texture Pack by Leozi and Pathway Studios, priced at 990 minecoins, and it aims to offer a clean, colourful and stylised look for Minecraft Bedrock. The first impression is that the world itself is extremely polished: smooth colours, pastel skies and neatly crafted block textures make the environment feel soft and bright. Water, stone, grass, ores and even biomes benefit from consistent, high-quality detailing with no blur and a modern cartoon look. Many blocks also include block variation, helping builds feel more natural. However, the GUI is surprisingly bare, with only a title image and font change - the rest is completely vanilla, which is unusual at this price point.
The biggest talking point is the mobs. While the pack describes itself as “high-end” and “artistic”, many passive and hostile mobs feature exaggerated, comedic faces that don’t match the otherwise polished tone. Sheep, pigs, zombies, spiders, skeletons and even the warden display googly eyes, missing teeth or stretched faces, creating an identity clash between clean art and meme-like character designs. Some mobs - such as horses, Guardians, villagers and the Breeze - look great and fit the polished style perfectly, but others look out of place or unintentionally cheap. It leaves the pack feeling torn between being a serious stylised texture pack and a playful goofy one.
Across structures and dimensions, the quality remains high in blockwork but inconsistent in vibe. The ocean monument, trial chambers, overworld biomes and armoury have strong visual direction, smooth texturing and great colour choices, though several tools, weapons and armour sets suffer from copy-and-paste designs. The Nether and End include bold colours and interesting fog effects, yet some mobs have awkward shapes, oversized heads or mismatched tones. Smoothic is undeniably well-made, visually clean and clearly prepared for future Vibrant Visuals support, but the conflicting artistic choices and comedic mob faces hold it back from feeling fully cohesive.
Pros
- Clean and polished visuals - Blocks are crisp, smooth and high quality, with no blur or muddy detail.
- Great block variation - Grass, stone, wood and other families include multiple patterns for more natural builds.
- Strong cartoon style - Pastel colours and soft shading create a modern animated aesthetic.
- Good structure work - Ocean monuments, trial chambers and biome transitions look refined and consistent.
- Prepared for Vibrant Visuals - Many textures appear designed with future lighting and height-map support in mind.
Cons
- Goofy mob faces break immersion – Many animals and monsters have joke expressions that clash with the pack’s tone.
- Identity conflict - The pack feels torn between clean artistic style and comedic meme-pack personality.
- Weak GUI effort - Only a menu image and font change are included, which feels low-value for a premium price.
- Copy-and-paste gear - Weapons, tools and armour have repeated designs rather than unique variations.
- Inconsistent mob quality = Some mobs are polished while others feel unfinished, stretched or strangely shaped.
