Texture Pack Summary

The Mythic Texture Pack by Syclone Studios is a gritty medieval overhaul for Minecraft Bedrock that successfully transforms the game into a dark fantasy world. This resource pack is available on the Minecraft Marketplace for 830 Minecoins, which is around £3.99. It currently holds a respectable 4.2 out of 5 star rating. Because of how brilliantly the atmospheric armour, unique Redstone components, and terrifying night monsters elevate the gameplay experience, I am giving this pack a very high 8.5 out of 10.

When exploring the Overworld, you are instantly greeted by an updated user interface hot bar and gorgeous environmental touches, such as highly detailed Spruce logs and clean, non-overpowering sunlight. The pack truly excels when darkness falls, especially with the addition of a custom Moon that looks exactly like the Death Star. The hostile night mobs look outstanding; Skeletons boast highly detailed, realistic rib cages, Creepers sport massive gaping mouths, and Spiders feature glowing eyes with prominent facial pincers. Even the Zombies look incredibly freaky with completely soulless eyes and individually textured fingers on their hands. The secret armoury is another absolute triumph, featuring realistic leather strapping on the stone tools and an incredible full-face helmet design for the iron armour. The endgame sets are spectacular, as the Netherite armour turns you into a dark lord reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings, while the Warden-themed Diamond gear shows off a stunning vibrant blue pattern.

However, the pack does falter significantly when it comes to the passive mobs and local settlements. The realism style on the passive animals makes them look incredibly messy and jarring; the sheep have terrifyingly strange faces, the chickens are oddly tinted to showcase dirty feathers, and the baby pigs look bizarre with disproportionately massive heads. This awkward design choice extends directly into the trees where the hidden villages reside. The local Villagers look deeply unhappy with overly wrinkled faces that can easily break your immersion and take you right out of the game. There are also a few questionable block choices throughout the different dimensions, such as the Quartz blocks looking a bit dirty as if they desperately need a proper clean, and the Netherrack blocks in the Nether looking a bit too much like a messy pile of baked beans.

Pros

  • Magnificent armoury sets: The Warden-themed Diamond gear and the dark lord Netherite armour sets look completely incredible.
  • Terrifying hostile mobs: The realistic Skeleton rib cages, wide Creeper mouths, and textured Zombie fingers look brilliant at night.
  • Incredible cybernetic Iron Golem: The brilliant village protector looks exactly like a sci-fi Terminator robot.
  • Atmospheric Redstone overhaul: The blood-like dust tracks and the creepy faces on the Dispensers add fantastic flavour.
  • High-quality custom bosses: The three-eyed, blue-winged Ender Dragon and the pumping heart animation on the Warden look fantastic.

Cons

  • Jarring passive mobs: The scary-faced sheep and giant-headed baby pigs look far too messy and break player immersion.
  • Unhappy Villager designs: The grumpy, wrinkled facial textures on the local Villagers look a bit too strange.
  • Basic main menus: While the in-game hot bar is completely customized, the primary game menus lack a major overhaul.
  • Dirty Quartz textures: The Quartz blocks look surprisingly unpolished and look like they need a thorough cleaning.
  • Awkward Netherrack design: The default Netherrack blocks closely resemble a pile of baked beans, which looks a bit silly.
