Texture Pack Summary

The Simply Cubed resource pack by RareLoot is a 16 pixel minimalist overhaul available on the Minecraft Marketplace that aims to bring a clean and sweet aesthetic to your world. Costing 660 Minecoins and including four free skins, this pack is designed for builders and adventurers who want a charming and uncomplicated look for their Minecraft Bedrock journey. I was quite interested to see how this compared to other minimalist packs, especially as it promises a unique simplicity that maintains the core feel of the game.

When I stepped into the world, I was immediately struck by the high quality of the individual textures. The colours are vibrant and the design is very polished, making the entire environment feel refreshed and tidy. The passive mobs are particularly cute, with the pigs and cows featuring simple but effective redesigns that fit the minimalist theme perfectly. The UI is also very clean and easy to navigate, which is exactly what you want from a pack that prides itself on being "simply cubed".

However, as I spent more time exploring, I began to notice some disappointing shortcuts that really affected my final score. While the quality of the art is high, the pack suffers from a massive amount of reused designs across different blocks. For example, the textures for bricks, prismarine, and stone bricks are essentially the same pattern just swapped with different colours. To me, this felt quite lazy for a pack at this price point. Because of this lack of variety and the feeling that the developers took too many shortcuts, I am giving this a low 6 out of 10.

Pros

  • High quality minimalist art: The textures that are original look fantastic and provide a very clean and professional aesthetic.
  • Charming mob designs: The animals in the world are redesigned to be very sweet and simple, which fits the friendly vibe of the pack.
  • Polished user interface: The menus and inventory screens are very tidy and follow the minimalist theme perfectly without any clutter.
  • Vibrant colour palette: The pack uses very bright and cheerful colours that make the Minecraft Bedrock world feel much more inviting.
  • Includes bonus skins: Getting four custom skins alongside the resource pack adds some nice extra value to your purchase on the Minecraft Marketplace.

Cons

  • Repetitive block designs: Many blocks like stone bricks and prismarine use the exact same texture pattern, which feels very lazy.
  • Lack of variety: Because so many textures are reused, the world can start to look a bit samey and boring after a short while.
  • Expensive for what it is: At 660 Minecoins, it feels a bit overpriced considering how many textures have been copied and pasted.
  • Limited innovation: While it is a clean pack, it does not really do anything new or exciting compared to other minimalist options.
  • Disappointing shortcutting: The high quality of the initial art makes the decision to reuse so many patterns feel even more like a missed opportunity.
