Texture Pack Summary

The Fantasy Texture Pack by Minecraft is an official addition to the Minecraft Marketplace that transports your world to a time of legends and heroes. Costing a very affordable 490 Minecoins, this pack is nearly 7 years old, which makes it a classic choice for players on Minecraft Bedrock. I was especially excited for this throwback Thursday review because it gives us a chance to see the standards set by the original creators of the game and how they compare to newer marketplace content.

The first thing I noticed upon loading into the menus was the high level of polish in the UI. The buttons feature a beautiful gold or yellow border that contrasts perfectly with a deep blue background, making everything very readable and elegant. This consistent blue and gold motif carries over into the inventory and workbenches, creating a regal atmosphere. The world itself feels like a high fantasy epic, with the environment textures working hard to make you feel like a knight on a grand quest.

While the pack has aged well and remains a solid choice, there are some areas where it shows its age. The textures for the passive mobs were a bit of a mixed bag for me; the cows and sheep have a unique look that fits the theme, but they might not be to everyone's taste. I also felt that while the pack is well polished, it lacks some of the modern vibrant visuals technology like PBR or heightmaps that we see in newer releases. However, for a pack that has been supported for 7 years, it is still an above average experience. I am giving this a strong 8 out of 10.

Pros

  • Professional UI design: The blue and gold themed menus are some of the best looking and most readable buttons I have seen on the Minecraft Marketplace.
  • Excellent value for money: At only 490 Minecoins, it is a very cheap way to completely transform the look and feel of your game.
  • Consistent fantasy atmosphere: Every block and item feels like it belongs in a medieval world of knights and legendary adventures.
  • Impressive longevity: The fact that this pack has been maintained and updated for nearly 7 years is a testament to its quality and popularity.
  • Clean and readable textures: Unlike some fantasy packs that are too "noisy," the textures here stay clear and easy on the eyes during long play sessions.

Cons

  • Polarising mob designs: The look of the animals like the cows and chickens is very specific and might not appeal to all players.
  • Lacks modern visual features: Because it is an older pack, it does not include advanced technology like reflections or PBR lighting.
  • Simple item icons: Some of the icons in the creative menu feel a bit basic compared to the high level of detail found in the world blocks.
  • Slow innovation: While it is a classic, it does not offer the same level of 3D modeling or complex variants found in more modern Minecraft Bedrock packs.
  • Niche aesthetic: The heavy medieval focus is fantastic for roleplay but might feel a bit restrictive if you want to build something modern or futuristic.
