Texture Pack Summary
The Enchanted resource pack by Mine-North is a new addition to the Minecraft Marketplace that promises to transport your world into a realm of magic. Costing 999 Minecoins and taking up 5 megabytes of space, this pack is designed to provide a mystical overhaul to your Minecraft Bedrock experience. I was curious to see if this pack would truly feel like a heavenly enchantment or if it would end up feeling more like a curse.
When I first opened the menus, I was immediately underwhelmed by the "custom UI" which really just amounts to a diamond-y blue colour on the buttons and loading screens. While the colour is consistent through the inventory and workbenches, it feels like the bare minimum effort. Moving into the world, the textures continue this trend of being quite basic and noisy. The stone blocks like andesite and diorite look very messy, and I found the grass and leaves to be so cluttered with detail that they actually became quite distracting to look at during gameplay.
The most disappointing part for me was the lack of consistency across the world. While some items like the diamond sword have a nice custom model, many other parts of the pack feel unfinished or rushed. The mobs do not have any unique 3D features, and the lack of modern Vibrant Visual technology, like PBR or heightmaps, makes the 16x16 textures feel very dated. Because of the high price and the overwhelming amount of visual noise, I am giving this a 3 out of 10. It is a very difficult pack to recommend when there are so many better options on the Minecraft Marketplace.
Pros
- Consistent colour motif: The diamondy blue theme carries through the UI and menus which provides a small sense of cohesion.
- Custom item models: Certain items like the swords have been given unique designs that fit the magical enchantment theme.
- Distinct block identifies: It is good that blocks like diorite and granite have their own look rather than just being colour swapped versions of each other.
- Small file size: At only 5 megabytes, it is a very lightweight pack that will not take up much storage space on your device.
- Themed aesthetic: For players who specifically want a very busy and "noisy" fantasy look, this pack definitely delivers on that specific style.
Cons
- Minimum effort UI: Claiming a custom UI in the description when it is just a simple colour swap feels very misleading and disappointing.
- Heavy visual noise: The textures for grass and stone are far too busy, which can make the game feel cluttered and even a bit triggering to look at.
- Expensive for the quality: At 999 Minecoins, this is a very high price for a pack that feels like it has a lower level of polish than its competitors.
- Lack of mob innovation: The creatures in the world do not feel unique or "enchanted" enough to stand out from the standard vanilla designs.
- Outdated visual feel: Without any vibrant visuals technology like reflections or heightmaps, the pack feels like it belongs in an older version of Minecraft Bedrock.
